The event will feature speakers from around the state addressing the abuse, neglect, and exploitation of Maine’s aging population and what communities can do to respond. This year’s theme is “Believing is seeing,” because task force members have found that once community members learn to recognize the signs of elder abuse, they start noticing it more and more.
The educational gala is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. It is a day-long event for professionals working to prevent, detect and respond to elder abuse, neglect and exploitation.
The YCEATF is a group of professionals from a variety of fields that have come together to help raise awareness about elder abuse in York County. One of their most recent projects involved purchasing hidden cameras that will be provided to local police departments for use in their investigations of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
